State of the College Address

Second annual event a showcase of RDC's goals and activities

Red Deer College welcomed members of the community to the second annual State of the College Address today. The event provided an opportunity for RDC’s Board of Governors and President & CEO to share the College’s impact on learners and the communities of central Alberta, while also looking to some exciting future opportunities.

“The State of the College Address provides a special opportunity for us to connect with our community members,” says Morris Flewwelling, Board Chair. “We’re very proud of the role RDC plays in helping to strengthen and enrich the intellectual, economic, cultural and social development of central Alberta, and we wanted to share this with our partners and people from across the region.”

At the event, audience members heard about the College’s many opportunities to serve its learners and to work with its communities. “We’re in a time of growth and opportunities unlike anything we’ve seen,” says Joel Ward, RDC’s President & CEO. “From new programs for our learners to the opening of our new facilities to our role in the Canada Winter Games, RDC is looking to a very positive and exciting year ahead.”

These milestones are possible thanks to extensive work from staff and faculty, along with partnerships at the local, regional, provincial, national and international levels. These partnerships include everything from faculty members engaging with community groups for research projects, to RDC connecting with other post-secondary institutions for the benefit of international learners, to working with the 2019 Canada Winter Games Host Society.

“Providing the best opportunities and facilities possible for our learners is at the heart of what we do,” says Ward. “We will continue to work with our Government, business, industry and community partners to build on our solid foundation and to achieve even greater possibilities for the future of our communities.”
