Workplace Health, Wellness & Safety

This course has been designed to provide students with an introduction to Workplace Health, Safety, Employee Wellness, and Workers Compensation. Students will be presented with best practices information on subjects including: due diligence, application of legislation and regulations, measuring and monitoring a health and safety program, Human Resources policy development and implementation. Students will also review typical workplace health hazards and issues (e.g.: smoke free environment, violence in the workplace, scent free environment, ergonomics, chemical hazards, indoor air-quality, and addictions). Students will discover how to recognize hazards, analyze risk to the health and safety of employees and determine appropriate preventative measures. Students will further discover how to establish a Health and Safety Program in order to achieve overall organizational effectiveness.

Textbook: Managing Human Resources 7th Edition (available at the RDC Campus Store).

This course can also be taken as part of the Human Resource Management Certificate.
