Encyclopedias contain factual articles on many subjects.
There are two types of encyclopedias -- general and subject-specific. General encyclopedias provide overviews on a wide variety of topics. Subject-specific encyclopedias contain entries focusing on one field of study.
We usually think of encyclopedias in print format. However, many encyclopedias are now available electronically on the Web (e-books) and are purchased by your library.
