Many organizations, associations, and academic institutions create subject directories as a way of organizing Web resources that they consider to be good or useful.
University and college libraries review, collect, and organize material into subject guides or directories so it may be more easily found and used for research. The material selected for inclusion has been reviewed by librarians and is usually annotated.
Below are two examples.

These often highlight the most important sources in an academic discipline and provide links to online sites in a subject, and may also highlight important books and journals that are available in a college's library.
More subject directories can be found on the Library's Website under Search and Find, Websites, Web Search Tools, Subject Starters.
